Description

Everyone dreams of winning the lottery. In this class, we practice describing a "dream life." We talk about big houses, fast cars, and exotic vacations. Students learn to express desires and plans for the future while discussing the positive and negative sides of being incredibly wealthy.

Session Activities

1: You check your ticket and you see the winning numbers. What is the first thing you do? (Do you scream? Do you cry? Do you call your mom?)

2: If you win $10 million, do you go to work tomorrow morning? Why or why not?

3: What is one "expensive" thing you want to buy right now that is not a house or a car? (e.g., A very expensive watch, a personal chef, or a first-class plane ticket?)

1: What is the first thing you buy with the money? Is it for you or for your family?

2: Where is your new house? Is it in the city, on the beach, or in the mountains? How many rooms does it have?

3: Who do you help with the money? Your parents? Your friends? A charity?

4: What is the first country you visit? Do you stay in a hotel or a luxury villa?

5: Is it possible to be unhappy with $10 million? What are the problems of being very rich?

To stop doing something (like a job).

Great comfort or expensive and beautiful things.
